SUPERBOWL!!!
6:39: Less than two hours to game time. Both kids are asleep, at least Ellie for the night (no nap today and it was an exhausting one). We've finished our long day of work. We're both showered and wearing our Colts gear. A giant glass of Coke sits between us. We'll watch Justice League until game time to take our minds off the wait.
Further updates to come.
-----------
6:43: Oh, no! It just started raining. Please, please, Lord, don't let this turn into a storm that disrupts our Directv, or worse, cuts the power. Please, Lord.
--------
8:35: We have power, but maybe I wish we didn't. This is off to a terrible start. I think I feel sick to my stomach. If we don't' win this thing, I'm going to have to go back and erase this entire post.
-------
8:50: We lost the signal for a minute, but it's back. We're back in it! Could there be any more fumbles? This is insane. Insane. It's going to be a long night.
-------
9:24: Okay, got Scotty down to sleep. Nate is being remarkably calm through all this. I'm impressed. Oh wait, there's the sound of him throwing up. Well, still, he's being very calm for him.
-------
9:34: Touchdown!!!! Now we've got the lead. That's more like it. Nate's on his fifth phone call already. I love how his phone conversations with Luke always end abruptly. He'll be mid-sentence and then it's, "Okay, bye." They squeeze as much talking as possible into the little breaks, but no one is going to talk through an actual play.
-------
10:02: Well, I was sort of looking forward to mocking the Prince half-time show, but Nate needed to watch something to distract him from the waiting. He's chosen the History Channel. Hmmm...but yeah, this is no time for arguing. Whatever he needs to do to get through it.
-------
10:09: In all fairness to Nate, this is an amazing documentary about marines taking Iwo Jima. It's surprisingly really in keeping with the Super Bowl mood. We're hearing things like: one-man wrecking crew, eviscerate, and voracious appetite.
-------
10:14: Just watched a bit of the Prince show during a History Channel commercial. Boring. He's in the middle of a giant Prince symbol and looking just like he always does and boring me to death.
-------
10:20: Laughing my head off over Jil's Prince updates. Yes, we do miss U2. The person who picked Prince should be embarrassed.
-------
10:41: How can they be talking about MVP already? How could you possibly know that? I will say that Urlacher is a really great football name, though.
-------
10:48: After sacking Rex two straight times, Nate is almost hyperventilating. I just heard a "Oh my gosh, we're going to win the Super Bowl." He's starting to let himself believe.
-------
10:50: Rhodes breaks a huge run. We have our first "This game is over." I guess that's Over Level 1. There are still several levels to go, so don't get too excited.
-------
11:08: Challenging Marvin's catch. Now I've joined Nate in pacing. Okay, good. They gave it to him.
-------
11:21: Nate: "Come on, Rex. Throw the big pick." 2 seconds later: Interception run back for a touchdown. I think we're at Over Level 2.
-------
11:45: 5 minutes to go, and I am so relaxed I'm lounging in my chair. Gotta love it.
-------
11:47: First down. Now it's really over. Final Level. All but the time on the clock that is. It all seems calm right now, but this house is about to explode.
--------
THE COLTS ARE WORLD CHAMPIONS!!!!!
We did it!!! You'll just have to imagine how happy Nate is. There is a lot less jumping around than there was two weeks ago, and a lot more answering phone calls and shouting, "We did it!" and "World Champions, Baby!"
Thanks for putting up with this insane blow-by-blow. We didn't have a Super Bowl Party, so we had to share it all somehow. (LOL, Nate: "I love EVERYONE.")
My favorite Nate lines of the night: "Would it kill us to get one more touchdown?" and (more than once) "I hate football."
This is the first time in 17 years that one of Nate's team has won a national championship. If any fan ever deserved it...
Okay, time to watch the post game. Here comes the trophy. (!!!!!)

Prince is wearing a dorag. He's wearing Dolphins colors. A turquoise suit and orange shirt. And maybe lavender eye shadow. He sucks.
Great post Deb!
Now, back to studying.
